Stacy's Picks

Friday's are becoming our new fave!  We love seeing who Stacy is going to highlight each week!  She is back with us again today to share another inspiring member of our wonderful community!!

Shannon Zundel has two sons who are currently serving in the military and so her creative efforts are now focused on her grandchildren, who she says, “are my entire world!” Shannon teaches 5th grade math at an intermediate school in Wylie, Texas and she recently created this adorably colorful layout in Paige Evans class appropriately titled Paige’s Pages. What a delightfully fun way to get your craft on and use up some of your stash while you’re at it. Shannon free-hand painted big L-O-V-E letters as a base design and then matched each color to a collection of accents to add visual interest and texture. It’s clear to me that Shannon has an intuitive sense for what makes a composition like this visually pleasing.
Take a close look at her page and notice how she

1.Repeatedly used specific kinds of accents, like buttons, bottle caps and hearts. This visual repetition really helps the eye (and brain) make sense of LOTS of stuff.

2.Used a large purple butterfly on the “L”which easily draws the eye to a “starting place.”

3.Use three different words, at the points of a visual triangle—another way to guide the eye and communicate a strong sense of balance.

Go Shannon!
You can follow Shannon and her creations—and even get to know her, in our growing community. Search for @sbzunel on the
