Hi BPC Crafters! I’m thrilled to be experimenting with some fun new products as a Guest Blogger this week! This page is the first of my new 2016 Project Life album and my first time using the 6x12 format, which I’ve been dying to use for months. I typically do 12x12 Project Life Layouts but I’ve been looking for something new to spark my creativity and I think 6x12 might be it!

Since this is the first page in my album, this is my Week 1 Layout. I cheated a little bit and included pictures from New Years Eve, but I thought it was a fun way to start the album. I decided to print in just black & white this week because I thought it would be great to include some bright oranges and yellows to tie in with the copper themed “Explore” card, which inspired my layout.

The assortment of products I’m working with this week included some fun alpha stickers from Amy Tangerine, Heidi Swapp’s Minc Butterflies, some Alpha stickers from Illustrated Faith, some Studio Calico buttons, a cardboard copper card from Studio Calico and some Maggie Holmes Paper Ephemera. I was primarily drawn to using the Explore card and the Alpha stickers, so that’s where I started with my layout.

One thing I’ve been including in my albums recently is a lot of Instax Mini photos. There’s something so fun about their size and about capturing the moment and not editing it at all. I always date stamp mine so that when I get to scrapbooking I can remember when the photo is from. I like to put them in the 3x4 pockets with a 3x4 card, it fits really well and allows me to stamp or journal around the photo.

Here’s a close-up of how I used the card in the end. I was a little sad to cover up the Explore wording, but it was the perfect backdrop for my Instax Mini photo, so I took the plunge and glued over it (I know, the anguish!). I also found some great gold glitter pieces in the Maggie Holmes collection, like this gold star and the heart on page 2.

To do my journaling, I do a little bit of a cheat – instead of doing a proper digital, I often use my printed cards that come in my Studio Calico kits and just run them through the printer! It’s a really fun way of journaling in those times when I don’t feel like my handwriting is right for the page (I’m going through one of those phases right now).

On page 2 I used another one of the pieces from the Maggie Holmes collection and I ran it through the printer to get a little bit of journaling on it. I love using typewriter fonts, this one is called “Remagg_cz” and is available for free online.

This last pocket was a fun chance to use a frame I’ve had kicking around for quite a while, I was attracted to it because of the copper finish, which I thought went perfectly with the copper card I started with. I stamped on it with StazOn ink and added a touch of washi down the side.

I used several more stamps to mark dates and accent photos, plus a few tiny attachers here and there to put the finishing touch on the layout.

Thanks so much for stopping by the Big Picture Classes Blog today, I hope you enjoyed the post and that it inspires you in some way with your own work! Stop by my scrapbooking blog for more projects and inspiration! Happy Scrapping!
