Angles on Asiatic Lilies
I was looking at my class list and realized I had never finished this class! So now I'll have photos of snow and flowers in the same class, which is not a bad thing.
I take FAR too many flower pictures, but they're such a fun subject. For this lesson, I tried a few different angles on my clump of Asiatic lilies. The overhead shot shows all the lilies together, which is nice, but not very well composed. The shot of the orange lily from the side gives the angle of the road, showing the garden is in my front yard, which is better storytelling. The orange lily from above and a bit closer shows my house with the open casement windows, which adds to the story by placing it at home and showing weather. The shot from underneath was tricky to get, but a fun use of my swivel viewfinder (a rarely used camera tool). I like that it shows the flowers stretching to the sky - a good angle to show growth. The pink close-up focuses on the details of the flower while also placing it in the garden - I like the extremely soft focus on the apple blossom geraniums behind it. Fortunately, my neighbors are used to me poking around in the garden with my camera, cause I was out there for awhile!
