Required Supplies
Do you have all your supplies? Use this checklist to be sure you're not missing anything you'll need!
-
Needle Regular sewing needles will work with 1 or two strands of thread. A large eye needle will make it easier to work with more thread for a chunkier look in your stitching.
-
Thread DMC Embroidery floss, standard sewing thread, thicker sewing thread, twine - all will work, depending on the eye on your needle
-
Paper Piercer or Awl You can use your needle to poke the paper if it's a sharp point, but it is much easier with a Paper Piercer or Awl
-
Old Mouse Pad or Felt Pad Place a padded surface (old mouse pad, a felt pad, foam) behind your paper to help the paper piercer go through and not damage your work surface.
-
Sewing Machine (optional) One lesson is done with machine stitching, but I do provide an alternative if you don't have a sewing machine.
-
Pencil with Eraser To draw lines for practice stitching and draw designs if not using the free class templates.
-
Ruler For marking even stitch holes if desired. You can also eyeball your holes.
-
Scissors For snipping your thread. Any scissors work, but the smaller ones are generally easier to snip with.
