I used a water color set and some plastic packaging to create a smooshed paint background. I originally tried painting stripes on the only piece of water color paper I had, which was a folded card base, and it curled up a lot, and I didn't like that. I didn't have any other water color paper, or even white cardstock, so I used the back side of an old patterned paper I didn't really like as my base. It didn't buckle as much as I thought it would, I think because I didn't use a ton of water when I was smooshing the paint on. I really like the wide painted stripes like in the lesson, so someday when I have big pieces of water color paper I will try it again. Until then I think I'll stick with smooshing ;)
