Required Supplies
Do you have all your supplies? Use this checklist to be sure you're not missing anything you'll need!
-
Watercolor Paints Simple is best! I’ll be using a very basic palette of watercolors I got at my local craft store. Snag a set from your kids or purchase something inexpensive to start.
-
Brushes I use a mix of acrylic and watercolor brushes. You could even use a watercolor brush pen. It’ll be useful to have a couple of different brushes in different sizes to experiment.
-
Paper I use regular old computer paper to practice, and I actually use plain white (smooth!) cardstock for my “final” artwork. This ensures smooth transfer when you scan and then digitize. Traditional watercolor paper is textured, but for our purposes in this class smooth paper will work best.
-
Photoshop or Photoshop Elements Have an older version? No problem! We’ll be using basic tools available in older editions of these programs. PS Elements is available for a 30-day free trial if you want to experiment with this program.
-
Scanner If you want to digitize your artwork, you’ll need access to a simple scanner that preferably can save your scans to JPEG files.
-
A willingness to try something new! I’ll break down the painting and technology pieces of this class to make the steps as simple as possible. All you have to do is be willing to play with paint and follow along!
